SCA Hygiene Products UK is part of a globally renowned company in the manufacture and supply of tissue products. At our manufacturing site in Prudhoe, Northumberland, in conjunction with Tyne North Training we now have opportunities for Apprentices on the following programmes:
Process Apprentices: This is a two year programme to develop people to become capable of being appointed to a position within a shift operating team. During this programme the successful applicants will achieve qualifications in NVQ Level 2 PMO and PEO, a Technical Certificate, and the key skills relevant to the apprenticeship framework. These will be obtained through a combination of assessment in the workplace, day release and the completion of assignments and time-constrained phase tests. Successful applicants must be a minimum age of 17 years due to requirement to work on shifts from year two, and must have a secondary level education to GCSE standard – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in 4 subjects.
Operations Technician Apprentices: This four year programme is to provide people with high level technical and operating skills to become capable of being appointed to a position within an operating team on completion and achievement of the programme. This programme is aligned to the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme, and the job-holders will be expected to achieve the following qualifications – NVQ Level 2 PMO and PEO, NVQ Level 3 Engineering Systems Maintenance, BTEC and HNC, and the key skills relevant to the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship framework. There will be a requirement to work shifts during the four year programme. Applicants must be a minimum age 16 years, and have achieved or be expected to achieve GCSE’s in a minimum of 4 subjects at Grade C or above – to include Maths and English and Science.

To follow either a 2 year apprenticeship or a 4 year advanced apprenticeship training programme in one of a number of engineering disciplines including welding, fabricating, electrical / electronic engineering, machining, mechanical fitting, mechanical electrical maintenance engineering. To start between September 2008. BTEC National Certificate in Engineering or City and Guilds Engineering Certificate may be available to applicants who meet certain criteria.
Must hold or expect to gain a minimum 3 GCSE’s grade A-C to include Maths, English and preferrably a science subject or equivalent qualifications. Entrance test will be undertaken to determine suitability.
Also suitable for summer 2008 school leavers.
