RM Manufacturing: part of Royal Mail Property and Facilities Solutions welcomes Tyne North Training Apprentices
September 2018 was significant for Tyne North Training having been chosen as RM Manufacturing’s training provider of engineering apprentices for their facility in the North East.
RM Manufacturing specialises in sheet metal fabrication for a variety of sectors. Created in 1989, today they are part of Royal Mail Property and Facilities Solutions Ltd, and as such can draw upon a vast network of skills and experience. Based in the North East of England, their 100,000 square foot headquarters can manage a vast array of sheet metal fabrication projects, from design through to manufacture. The facilities include a production workshop, advanced assembly plant and warehouse storage with a wide range of the latest machinery. Experts in their field, they work across a vast range of sectors from general engineering, transport, pharmaceutical and medical to industrial automation, power generation, retail, catering, oil and gas.

One area which has been identified is apprenticeship recruitment.
The management team chose to recruit 5 new fabrication apprentices for the facility based in Longbenton. Tyne North Training managed the full recruitment process which included advertising, candidate testing, pre-screening and subsequently managing the interview process. 5 candidates were offered and 5 candidates accepted the fantastic opportunities on offer.
The 5 apprentices started their practical training in The Ignite Centre for Engineering & Innovation which is Tyne Met College’s purpose-built training facility adjacent to the Tyner North Training Head Office. The apprentices have now completed their basic training and had their first full day in the workplace during half term. All 5 are expected to start in production after half term. Tyne North Training are now looking forward to working closely with RM Manufacturing in the development of these engineers of the future.
