Tyne North Training was founded in 1968 by the Engineering Industry Training Board, together with local small and medium sized engineering companies, as a Group Training Organisation.
The purpose of Tyne North Training was to provide the member companies, many of whom did not have their own training departments, with assistance in recruiting and training apprentices to EITB standards. To a large extent this role has not changed over the years.
The company is run by an Executive Committee elected from the member companies and has charitable status.
All our apprentices are employed by member companies and the vast majority are on Advanced Apprenticeship Programmes following the SEMTA framework. Tyne North Training is an Approved Assessment Centre for EAL.
Presently Tyne North Training look after approximately 250 employed apprentices from 60 member companies, over 90% of who are Advanced Apprentices.
The companies we deal with are involved with Light and Heavy Engineering ranging from Electronics to Ship Building.
Tyne North Training operates an accredited ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality System. We are also an Occupational Safety Member of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, a member of the Northern Offshore Federation and the Engineering Employers Federation. |
