The Manufacturing Intermediate Apprenticeship focuses on training apprentices to operate effectively in a manufacturing environment. Typical job roles include assembly operations of electrical products, plastic components, metal goods and product assembly. Other roles include receiving and checking raw materials and sub-assemblies, inspection, test and quality control.

Manufacturing apprentices may typically be responsible for the day-to-day running of equipment and for the quality of work. They are also capable of monitoring and controlling equipment and quality, and can also exercise some judgement and decision making about the manufacturing process.

What is a manufacturing?

Manufacturing apprentices work in a whole range of different industry sectors. Tyne North Training's manufacturing apprentices are an excellent example of this as there are apprentices working within local companies manufacturing the following range of products:

  • Office furniture
  • Artisan cheeses
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Soft furnishings
  • Electric motors
  • Illuminated signs
  • Marble surfaces
  • Machined components
  • Injection mouldings
  • Outdoor clothing
  • Boats
  • Printed documents

The manufacturing process

For all these different products the manufacturing process is very similar with all the apprentices completing these three key steps:

Otain the raw materials, parts, instructions and prepare the working area.

Carry out the production process as per the standard operation or operating procedure.

Confirm the product is finished and ready for the next stage or inspection.
